today was the actual day of SYF competition performance. it started in the morning. woke up at 0300am in the morning, took a cab and fetched selina on the way. went to mac to meet chanel. had our breakfast and reached school at 0515am. went to the toilet, pinned up our hair, changed into full uniform and went back to the band room. mrchiang came and we started practising at 0545am. we had a great runthrough of both pieces. mrchiang left for maris stella at 0800am. we then took a bus to SCH and reached by 0910am. went into the tuning room and ranthrough the both pieces again. mrchiang and the tutors complimented us and said that the sound was FANTASTIC. we then went out and lined up outside the big double doors that led to the stage. waited there for abt 15mins. we spent the time wisely by singing our parts out together as a band. then, the doors opened, and we entered the hall. sat in our assigned places, adjusted our stands and kept blowing hot air into our instruments to keep our instruments warm. we started with a 1-3-5 tonic triad. after that, we started on our pieces. we played all our feelings and expressions, and played the best that we could. we felt that we would get a gold. many other audiences thought so too. after our performance, we left the hall and once i stepped out of the hall, my tears started to flow down my cheeks. selina, yiting, and i were crying our hearts out. thinking that this will be the last time we will be performing these two pieces made my heart ache. chanel started to cry as well, and that got me crying again. after we all calmed down, the whole band went back to the hall to hear the other bands perform. maris stella performed very well, and lots of people expected them to get goldwithhonours. after a short intermission, the results were out. chongboon got silver, and maris got gold. me and selina were not happy with our results. i started crying again, because we had really done our best and put in a lot of effort. some of the maris students were not happy because their standard used to be a goldwithhonours band. they aimed for goldwithhonours, and worked hard towards that goal, like chongboon band did as well. we then took the bus back to school. selina and i were both very emo and sad. we went up to the band room sat down for announcements and debriefing. all the teachers said that we all worked very hard and did our very best, and that they were very proud of us. ms tan said that no matter what results we got, in her heart, we will always be a gold band. as the sec 4s were leaving, the new sec 3 excutive commitee and section leaders were announced. i was made secretary, an exucutive commitee, i was also made SL(section leader). all these postings are only on probation. nothing has been confirmed, and changes might be made. went to eat lunch with selina and wanqing, and went home very depressed. but overall, im glad we didnt let mrchiang down.
